Brick Meets Sky
For a building to photograph well, it needs presence. The Heartwood Apartments in Eugene's East River District has plenty of it. Kraft Masonry commissioned this shoot to capture the full scope of their work on the four-story, brick-clad exterior, and an unusually clear Oregon day made for ideal conditions from the ground up.
Beyond the standard still coverage, I took the drone up for both aerial stills and cinematic panning shots that trace the roofline and facade in motion. There is something particularly satisfying about brick as a subject. The texture catches directional light well, the coursing gives the eye somewhere to travel, and a building of this scale rewards the wider perspective that only aerial work can provide. The East River District is a great backdrop, and the Heartwood Apartments fit right into it.
