Desert Whimsy

Joshua Tree’s whimsical silhouettes have long been rumored to inspire the fantastical plants of Dr. Seuss, and after exploring the park with my wife Lori, I believe it. October brought cool air, ever changing light colors, and endless trails weaving through otherworldly rock formations scattered across the desert floor.

From the high lookouts where you can peer down into the San Andreas Valley to the dramatic sunset light show that sweeps across the terrain each evening, Joshua Tree feels like a desert dreamscape. A must-see national park with character all its own.
