Portland International Airport

Portland, OR

Stepping into the newly opened wing of PDX from the arrival terminal was transformative. The thoughtfully designed space, featuring warm, natural materials and elements, immediately exuded a sense of peace and tranquility. It felt cozy, inviting, and surprisingly calming, a true testament to the power of intentional design.

I had the opportunity to assist Sea Legs Media on a project for Freres Wood at PDX. My role involved capturing behind-the-scenes photography and architectural imagery of the space. It was fascinating to witness how the collaboration of various stakeholders, from material suppliers to designers and architects, came together to create such a cohesive, light-filled, and airy environment. This project is a beautiful example of how architecture and design can enhance not only a structure but also the experience of those who inhabit it.

The terminal, designed by ZGF Architects, has been recognized with numerous honors including the 2025 Architectural Record Award, Fast Company's Best Design North America in the 2025 Innovation by Design Awards, and The Architect's Newspaper Best of Design Project of the Year.
